Mystery, laughter, satire and romance make up this contemporary drama as
fresh as tomorrow’s headlines. Just Politics takes us on a quest to find
the meaning behind a President’s dying utterance. Through the

The Fantasticks
A musical by Harvey Schmidt
and Tom Jones
The Fantasticks has continually captivated audiences around the world
for more than forty years. Schmidt and Jones’ musical
tells the story of a boy and girl who are neighbors. As a romance
blossoms, their fathers are delighted but skeptical and so use reverse
psychology to fabricate a feud, building a wall between their houses and
forbidding their children to talk to each other. When their plan works,
they enlist the mysterious El Gallo -- the proprietor of a traveling
carnival -- to use his charm and guile to bring the kids back together
for a solid relationship. The story is simple but the style of the show
is actually quite sophisticated through the conscious use of a variety
of ancient theatrical techniques and subtext. Two songs from The Fantasticks, "Try To Remember" and "Soon It's Gonna Rain," have become
part of the fabric of our culture.
