UW Sheboygan Foundation Grants The UW Sheboygan Foundation has provided four grants to the library since 1997, exceeding $20,000 total! We gratefully acknowledge these gifts from the UW Sheboygan Foundation and appreciate all that the board members do in support of the campus.
In March 2007, the Foundation approved $5000 in funding to initiate the University Library/UW-Sheboygan Foundation Internship in Information Resources. This new internship and scholarship opportunity is designed to offer a great, hands-on educational experience to any new freshman student interested in learning some important, in-depth skills in information resources and technology. It also provides some regular income to help fund the student's tuition and related expenses. The program is funded on a trial basis for 2007/08, with the likelihood of it becoming a permanent addition to the campus's available scholarships.
In November 2005, the UW Sheboygan Foundation awarded a $5000 grant to the library to purchase some new books in the subject areas of geography, anthropology, political science, art and music, to replace material damaged beyond use from a Summer 2003 mold outbreak. (New mechanical systems have since been installed to prevent the uncontrollable humidity levels experienced in the past.) A few items are yet to arrive, but click here to see a list of titles purchased with this funding which have been received so far. (165 total volumes were purchased with this grant.)
In Spring 2001, UW Sheboygan and UW Oshkosh began offering a program of study on the UW Sheboygan campus leading to the UW Oshkosh degree Master of Science in Education-Curriculum and Instruction. The UW Sheboygan Foundation provided strong financial support for the start-up of this program, including a grant of over $7200 to Battig Memorial Library in 2001-02 to purchase collection materials to support the research needs of the MSE students. In Fall 1997, the UW Sheboygan Foundation awarded a grant of $3500 to Battig Memorial Library, in order to supplement the regular acquisitions budget and allow purchase of additional collection materials across a broad array of subjects.
