Access to Interlibrary Loan Services

The interlibrary loan service provided by University Library is limited to usage by current students, faculty, and staff of UW-Sheboygan. This policy is enforced for a number of reasons, including the following:

1. Patrons are held responsible for the safety and prompt return of borrowed materials and are also held accountable for any damage or replacement fees which may arise. It is more difficult to guarantee this responsibility for non-student and non-employee patrons.

2. There are significant costs involved with every interlibrary loan transaction. Financial resources and staff time which would be used in providing a community interlibrary loan service would be resources thus taken away from support of needed university library services or purchases.

3. Area public libraries provide interlibrary loan service to the citzens of their communities. All libraries--public and academic--have access to the same materials via interlibrary loan.
