Sources of Biographical Information

To find biographical information, try some of the subscription databases or web pages below.  We also have a collection of print biographical sources available in the library's print Reference Collection which we'd be happy to advise on.

• Wilson Biographies Plus * -- this WilsonWeb database contains more than 45,000 biographies from articles in more than 100 print volumes of biographical reference books published by H.W. Wilson

• Britannica Online * -- online equivalent to the well-known Encyclopaedia Britannica

• Contemporary Authors * -- contains biographical and bibliographical information on over 90,000 current worldwide authors of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, journalism, drama, motion pictures, and television

• LEXIS-NEXIS Academic Universe * -- the Reference sources in this database provide biographical information on "politicians, business executives & more"

• Biography & Genealogy Master Index * -- a comprehensive index to nearly 12 million biographical sketches in more than 2700 volumes and editions of current and retrospective reference books, covering both contemporary and historical figures throughout the world

• Biographical Directory of the United States Congress, 1774-Present -- provides personal and career detail on the men and women who served in the U.S. and Continental Congresses; searchable by member name, state, party, etc.
