· Seek practical applications of knowledge
· Develop self-awareness & acceptance of one’s own capacities, interests, and needs
Summer camp topics include:
Computer Programming camp- Minecraft Gamers and Website Design @UW-Washington & UW-Waukesha
Biomedical Engineering Camp- Organ Systems I - Hitting the Funny Bone, and Eyeing Virtual Reality™
Classic Engineering Camp – Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering
Mechanical Engineering Camp – Motion Commotion™ and Animal Frenzy™
Advanced Manufacturing Camp – Ah! The Power of Math™ and Computers and Communication @ UW-Waukesha
UW Summer College for Kids camps will consist of two workshops each for both age groups, ages 11-14 camps will offer more advanced content (ADV). See below for descriptions and schedule. Check our website for more in-depth workshop descriptions! Students will need to bring a bag lunch and drink. Students will receive information on higher education opportunities and a camp gift.
All camps will meet Monday through Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm, $299*.
The emerging field of Biomedical engineering deals with the application of engineering principles and design concepts to medicine and biology for healthcare purposes. Closing the gap between engineering and life sciences, this is an exciting intersection of two classic industries: health and mechanical engineering. This camp will consist of two workshops: Hitting the Funny Bone and I Spy, My Eye™ (8-11yrs) and Organ Systems and Eyeing Virtual Reality™ (11-14yrs). Please bring a bag lunch and drink.
Biomedical Engineering Camp Schedule:
Our classics showcase two important fields of engineering that have fueled development over the last few centuries through the industrial revolution, civic infrastructure projects, access to clean water, human flight and reach outside planet Earth. The discoveries and inventions continue to shape our worlds. We will head out of the classroom to see firsthand how both civil and environmental engineers work! This camp consists of two workshop programs, Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering; advanced content is provided for ages 11-14. Please bring a bag lunch and drink.
Classic Engineering Camp Schedule:
One of the oldest and broadest fields of engineering, Mechanical deals with design and production of machine and tools. It fueled the industrial revolution and today mechanical engineers are pursuing developments in biomedics, nanotechnology, and mechatronics. Participants venture into the land of mechanics in this exciting series of hands-on / minds-on programs. This camp consists of two workshop programs, Motion Commotion™ and Animal Frenzy™; advanced content is provided in workshops for ages 11-14. Please bring a bag lunch and drink.
Mechanical Engineering Camp Schedule:
Build robots? That's a no-brainer!
Start with a re-purposed Android device, add some electronics and mechanical parts... and build the smartest robot yet. Learn about robotics, electronics, and computer programming as you build a robot to participate in an all new, unique competition the final day. We provide the Android device and all the parts needed to build an incredible robot. When the class is over, you can keep the device and robot to further explore its capabilities. Parents are invited to watch our robotics competition where students demonstrate the different skills their robot has! Space is limited.
Register by February 8 for early bird specials!
After-school Spanish provides an opportunity for elementary students to gain exposure to the Spanish language at an early age. Children in kindergarten–5th grades will have fun learning the basics including pronunciation, alphabet and number review, vocabulary building, common phrases, and simple conversation. After-School Spanish will be held off campus at each of our partner elementary schools. Ask about our family discounts or visit our registration site!
