Q: How do I log onto campus computers?

A: To access your Student Account log in information, visit the Central IT first-time user portal. Enter the information requested to receive your Network Login, PRISM, and Desire2Learn (D2L) username and password. Note that you log onto and receive this information during your registration session.

Q: How do I change my password?

A: To change your password visit the Central IT user reset portal.

Q: How can I access my campus email?

A: The UW Colleges use Microsoft Live @edu for student email. New students should start by going to the Student Account Look Up page to get your username and to set your password. You will need to choose the First-Time User link just below the Username box. This will be taken care of during your registration session. Each public access campus computer has a "Check your email" link on the desktop wallpaper.

Q: How do I save documents on campus computers?

A: Save your work to the Documents folder in the Start menu. You can then access your files from any campus computer. Documents saved elsewhere should be assumed lost as they are not tied to your login and will be trashed upon logout. You may also choose to save your documents to a flash drive. Please make sure that it requires no additional software to avoid any issues.

Q: What should I know about printing on campus?

A: Every student begins the semester with a print quota of $10.00 per semester for Fall and Spring semesters ($5.00 per Summer session). When you have exhausted your quota, additional pages can be purchased from the Business Services Office in increments of $1.00. Please plan ahead, as you will be unable to print if your account has reached its quota. You may check your print balance by click on the "Check Print Balance" shortcut on the computer desktop.

Q: How do I connect my laptop to the campus wireless network?

A: Simply check that you are connected to "uwspublic" in your list of available wireless connections. Then, open your Internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.) and make sure that it is working. If it is, then you should be good to go. Q: Where can I check out technology equipment?

A: The UW-Sheboygan Library offers laptops for use within the library only. Other equipment may be available for checkout through the IT Dept. to support on-campus Student Organization events. Students must have the sponsorship of a Faculty or Staff advisor for their particular organization and requests for equipment usage must be initiated by that advisor. Students will not be allowed to check out IT Dept. equipment for personal use.

Q: Where can I find discounted software?

A: All UW students have access to discounted software through UW-Madison.
