Ruben Vega watercolorThe University of Wisconsin‐Sheboygan invites the community to visit the Fine Arts Gallery on  campus for the latest art exhibition, featuring paintings by local Sheboygan artist Rubén Vega. Some of the  artwork is based on original postcard images of historic Sheboygan scenes. A special opening reception takes  place on Friday, December 15, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. The  show runs through January 20, 2018.
Rubén Vega, a native of Mexico City, has traveled extensively throughout Canada, the United States, and  Mexico, painting the beauty he finds there‐‐whether in cityscapes, seascapes, or landscapes.  His love of  architecture began when he entered the School of Architecture at the University in Mexico City, but it evolved  into a passion for painting with watercolor, a medium whose transparency and light provide the ideal  conditions for his themes.  "Everything has its own beauty, and anything is worthy of being painted.  The artist  must interpret what Nature and Man have created and then present it so that others may see it, too."
UW‐Sheboygan’s Fine Arts Gallery is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9  a.m. to 6 p.m. The campus is located at One University Drive in Sheboygan.
