Race, Poverty and Prejudice is the topic of a presentation at The University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan on Thursday, October 5. From the streets of the nation’s most segregated city to the heart of Islam, Allen Ruppel, Founder and Executive Director of Unity in Motion will share an insider’s view. The presentation is followed by a discussion on connecting a divided world. Students as well as community members are welcome to attend the presentation, which takes place in the Wombat Room (room 2114) from 4p.m. to 6p.m. Admission is free.
Ruppel, who began his education at UW-Sheboygan, completed a degree in finance from UW-Whitewater and founded Unity in Motion in 2000. A non-profit organization, Unity in Motion has worked with youth in the central city of Milwaukee for over 17 years. . As part of his role, Allen recently traveled throughout Saudi Arabia and was granted access to the Islamic world to better understand the day-to-day life, religion and issues in the birthplace of Islam.
