Area music lovers invited to “TAKE NOTE-ice! 2013”
UW-Sheboygan to host second ever local music competition
The University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan Music Department will hold its second ever “TAKE NOTE-ICE!” Music Competition this spring. All area high school students and college students are invited to enter themselves, their band, string quartet, etc. to battle to be the TAKE NOTE-ice! Grand Prize winner.
All entries to the competition, which will be held May 9, 2013, are due to the UW-S Music Department by March 4, 2013. All entries must include a recording of one song, a completed application and an entry fee of $20.
Participation is open to any soloist or student-led musical group formed outside local high school or college music ensembles. All members must be enrolled in Wisconsin high schools or colleges.
The voting board for the initial review of entries will include two members of the Music faculty at UW-Sheboygan, two students from the campus Music Club, two other faculty and staff members and one Music teacher not associated with UW-Sheboygan.
The top three entries for the TAKE NOTE-ice! Competition will be invited to perform live on Thursday, May 9 in the UW-Sheboygan Fine Arts Theatre. The grand prize winner will be selected by a tally of votes submitted that evening by those in attendance. The two other remaining performers will receive honorable mention. Prizes will be given to all those performing for the live competition.

All contest entries and questions regarding the competition should be sent to Dr. Talbott, UW-S Music Department Chair, at Christy.firstname.lastname@example.org. Recordings may be sent electronically as audio or video files or on a CD. All entries that cannot be emailed should be dropped off in the UW-Sheboygan Business Services Office and directed to Dr. Christy Talbott (TAKE NOTE-ice Competition).
