Spring 2011 Center for Engagement Learning catalog released
Area residents hoping to broaden their horizons, travel to new and exciting places or become more competitive in today’s ever-changing job market are encouraged to review the new University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan Center for Engagement Learning (CEL) Spring 2011 catalog. Copies of the catalog are now being mailed to past students and distributed to area libraries. An electronic copy is also available on the expanded Center for Engagement Learning section of the UW-Sheboygan web site.
The new Spring 2011 catalog features a number of new courses, workshops and travel opportunities for area residents, a five-series workshop on Doing Business in China and a new and innovative series of Health and Wellness programs that kick off in February.
Specifically, residents are invited to register for CEL’s new Health and Wellness series that features programming on topics such as “Eating Disorders,” “Healthy Lifestyles—Thriving or Surviving?,” “Late Life Mental Health,” “Choosing a Long Term Care Facility” and “Motivational Interviewing.”
The special five-series workshop on Doing Business in China invites are business professionals looking to grow their market share in this emerging economic superpower to learn more about the history, culture, language and economics of China. A new program on Doing Business in Brazil also will be offered.
A variety of foreign language instruction courses will again be offered including beginning and advanced levels of Spanish, French and Italian. A new series of courses on the Czech language has been added for the spring.
In addition to CEL’s longstanding quality Study Abroad tours, the department has added several tours within the United States, including a tour to Charleston, NC, in October 2011, a Fall Colorama tour in Wisconsin, and a trip to New York to experience several Broadway theater productions. Overseas tours to Beijing, China in 2012 and Germany and Austria in 2012 also have been announced.

Registration for all CEL courses and workshops is available online via the online registration page (click on “Online Registration”).
