Chinese Acrobats to perform at UW-Sheboygan Nov. 10
Show promises contortion, balancing acts
The Sheboygan community is invited to an hour of flipping, balancing, twisting and breathtaking stunts as the Chinese Acrobats take to the stage as part of the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan’s 2011-12 campus and community programming schedule.
The fabulous Chinese Acrobats, now in their 12th year of touring schools all over the United States, will perform on Thursday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the UW-Sheboygan Gym.
This team of four acrobats will present an amazing, colorful and educational program filled with contortion and balancing routines, as well as information on Chinese culture and history.
The art of Chinese acrobatics combines both physically and spiritually. Coupled with an acrobat's immense athletic strength and impeccable balance and timing is the Asian philosophy of inner strength, which focuses the body and mind to work in perfect harmony. Each individual acrobat's physical and philosophical strength combines with that of the fellow members of his or her troupe in magnificent displays of balancing, juggling, dance, comedy and magic.
An interpreter will enrich the show with facts about Chinese culture, customs and school life, while the acrobats will showcase their stunts in a variety of colorful and culturally-based costumes.
The Chinese Acrobats performance is sponsored by the UW-Sheboygan Special Programs Committee. Tickets are $3 for the general public and FREE to all UW-Sheboygan students with current ID. Tickets are available in the UW-Sheboygan Business Services Office Monday-Friday or at the door the night of the event. Limited seating is available. You may contact the UW-S Box Office at (920) 459-6652.
The UW-Sheboygan Gym is located across from Main Building and the Fine Arts Building. Parking is available in either the West or East parking lots.
